The Joan Bennett Undergraduate Research Scholarship Fund

Dr. Joan Bennett served as the Director of the Undergraduate Program from its creation in 1980 up until her retirement in the 2006-07 school year. For the majority of its growth, the Undergraduate Research Program practically “was Dr. Bennett.” She gave all her time and effort to recruiting faculty research mentors, working with students and faculty, and successfully obtaining money to support undergraduates doing research.

While the population at any university changes frequently and institutional memory is not long, Dr. Bennett’s contributions to undergraduate research at Delaware deserve lasting recognition.

Thanks to an incredibly gracious donation in the sum of $10,000 from Dr. Burnaby Munson, current UD Professor and long-time supporter of undergraduate research, the Joan Bennett Undergraduate Research Scholarship Fund has been created. It is his, and our, goal that this amount increases to $50,000, and we would greatly appreciate your contributions!
