The Connection
and Interplay Between Literature, Culture, and Physics Around the
Turn of the Twenitieth Century, Concentrating on American
Culture (Excerpt)
My own
research is at another beginning point. I've just
finished a book, and I'm about to start work on another
one. The new book will be the third in my series of studies
of the science-oriented knowledge bases of American
literature. It is pointed (at least provisionally) toward
William Faulkner, and it will draw together two basic research
strands: one of theories of time, and the other of interrelated
theories from the fields of anthropology, mythology, and depth
psychology that flourished in the early twentieth century.
The student's research would certainly benefit my
project in collecting bibliography, pre-reading and reviewing
sources, and developing connections between writers and scientific
concepts on the subject of time-theory.
